By combining Candera’s CGI Studio HMI platform with CONZE’s engineering expertise, manufacturers benefit from shorter development cycles, lower costs and the early consideration of regulatory requirements.

LINZ, Austria / SIEGEN, Germany, 28 July 2026. The development of modern medical technology places high demands on user experience, product safety, regulatory compliance and cost efficiency. Candera GmbH and CONZE Informatik GmbH are therefore combining their expertise in a strategic partnership. Together, the companies support manufacturers of medical and healthcare products from the initial HMI concept through to production-ready implementation on the target hardware.

The joint offering is based on Candera CGI Studio, a professional HMI development platform for the efficient creation of high-performance, production-ready user interfaces across different hardware classes and target platforms. CONZE complements the offering with engineering expertise in embedded software, hardware control, cloud integration, and the development of medical devices and software systems.

CONZE develops software for regulated markets and critical application environments. The company is certified according to DIN EN ISO 13485:2021 and DIN EN ISO 9001:2015. Development projects are implemented with consideration for the requirements of IEC 62304 and the usability engineering processes defined in IEC 62366-1.

“With CONZE, we are gaining an engineering partner that understands the practical requirements of medical technology and brings regulatory and technical aspects together from the very beginning,” says Dipl.-Ing. Reinhard FÜRICHT, Managing Director of Candera GmbH. “Together, we provide manufacturers with a powerful foundation for developing modern, safe and intuitive HMIs more efficiently. From early UI concepts through to production-ready applications on the target hardware.”

Early Validation and Flexible Hardware Selection

Candera CGI Studio enables the user interface to be separated from the system logic. This allows HMI concepts to be developed and tested at an early stage on Windows systems or via remote simulation, even when the final target hardware is not yet available.

Development-related verification and validation activities can therefore be prepared earlier. At the same time, dependencies on hardware prototypes and costly development iterations can be reduced.

For usability and human factors processes in accordance with IEC 62366-1, CGI Studio supports the rapid iteration of safety-relevant UI elements such as warnings, symbols, status displays and menu structures. Formative evaluations can take place during early project phases, while summative evaluations can be prepared in a targeted manner.

Support for a wide range of MCUs, MPUs and operating systems also enables early testing across different hardware classes. Manufacturers can compare performance, memory requirements and graphical quality before making a final platform decision. Potential bottlenecks become visible earlier, reducing the risk of a later hardware redesign.

“The development of medical devices requires not only a convincing user interface, but also a well-coordinated interaction between software, hardware, regulatory requirements and traceable development documentation,” says Dipl.-Wirtsch.Inf. (FH) Magnus THEILE, Managing Director and CTO of CONZE Informatik GmbH. “With Candera CGI Studio and our engineering expertise, we create a practical foundation that enables manufacturers to systematically reduce development and certification effort.”

Traceable and Secure Development Processes

In addition to usability and performance, the partnership also addresses key requirements relating to cybersecurity, change management and traceability.

Candera is certified according to ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 and supports secure development processes through proactive CVE monitoring and the provision of a Software Bill of Materials, or SBOM. The XML-based CGI Studio project format SCML enables version control using systems such as Git or SVN and supports the traceable documentation of changes.

Joint Medical HMI Demonstration and Webinar

As a joint application example, Candera and CONZE are presenting the HMI of a blood analysis device designed for laboratories, hospitals and pharmacies. The demonstration shows the complete workflow from UI concept to the technical implementation of a realistic medical HMI application.

In the joint webinar “Medical-HMI ohne unnötige Schleifen. Wie Sie Entwicklungs- und Zertifizierungsaufwände gezielt reduzieren“ (Medical HMI Without Unnecessary Iterations. How to Systematically Reduce Development and Certification Effort), the partners will demonstrate how regulatory, technical and usability-related requirements can be efficiently combined.

The webinar will take place on 29 September 2026 at 1:00 p.m. CEST. Register here.
